Good day, CX crew. It's been a while since we've done a BattleChip showcase, so why don't we have one today. Today's subject: NoizJump.
As I've mentioned before, Chrono X has undergone a lot of changes and improvements. Spanning system rewrites and game design adjustments, we took our game to task and figured out what our game's end result would look like a while ago. You saw this with the addition of Freeze as a mechanic, and most recently, the addition of NCP programs that enhance your capabilities in interesting ways. Check out one of those in the previous devlog.
So, obviously our Aqua-elemental chips got a huge buff in the form of Freeze existing as a mechanic. BackStk1 -- that chip from the Bamboo Turtle virus -- got a massive change that lets it push your enemies, letting you combo with it. We've seen RocketRain from our social medias, which is a new chip available early on. Even Gocha's (the virus formerely known as Storog) chip was revamped and got a lot better. This left poor old NoizJump just hanging there. So the first thing you'll see is that we revamped the description for clarity and overall usage. But that's not even the best part...
NoizWave will now blind your foe for a set amount of time. This will be the first chip you come across that performs this role. Gives it a purpose during the story mode, helps distinguish it from Cannons with its lack of stopping power, and more! We can also use this new behavior to pair with future BattleChips that depend on inflicted statuses. Trying to give every BattleChip a use is difficult, but worth doing.
The upgraded versions of NoizWave will inflict different statuses, along with different damage values, so we're hoping that you'll have to make a tough decision and pick the one you like working with more. You'll also note the consistent damage amount on the chip when I get hit, too. And yes, for you Demo players, I haven't forgotten what you remembered.
I still like the old behavior, but you'll see slight differences in behavior when you get the expansion effect versus when you don't. I think now we have a winner, winner chicken dinner with these changes. Er, data duck dinner?
And one last thing: NoizWave K is no longer required to advance the story. It was sort of weird with the way the demo handled this. If you S-ranked Noizzy, you received a reward that wasn't acceptable to advance the plot, so you were being punished for being good at the game. We could just require an S-rank, but we should reserve those types of challenges for later on.
Oh yeah, NoizWave had an infamous Program Advance, right? Hm, we'll show that one at a later date, but I promise you'll have a working one.
If you haven't, check us out on our social medias for byte-sized updates.
