Navicust Refactor Payoff

Boot up the NaviCustomer, Lan?

You might have seen the teasers on our other social medias about some of the new Navicust options. How about we book-end that with a new mechanic?

Navicust Conversion Notice

As the new ability listed for Quick points out, there’s something called “Conversion” at the bottom. This reflects a change in design philosophy. You see, we always knew Mementos would come with a set of baked-in abilities. Those abilities were often similar to Navicust abilities you found naturally, like Quick Memento’s Quick Guard. Press B+Left to block non-Breaking attacks. That’s just like the Shield Program, no?

And so, we planned Navicust Programs to be certain colors and had certain Mementos ban those same colors. This was a way to tell the player “You don’t need these programs with that Memento.” Now, instead of outright saying no, we’re giving you an alternative.

Navicust Refactor

When you’re Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O. and you equip an orange-colored Navicust Program, then the game will instead convert that to Floatshoes. You can see that I tried to equip Shield, but I’m getting Floatshoes instead. Floatshoes is worth 6 squares, so you’ve effectively gained the value of that program with only 3 squares! The game is finding out the most bang for your buck to squeeze in every benefit you can.

Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O. Floatshoes

Boom. A combo that’s more easily accessible due to this new change. And of course, other Mementos offer different conversions that complement their playstyle. We thought Floatshoes helped to complement Quick’s playstyle, what with him starting off ignoring Cracked panels and all.

Yes, we had to refactor the Navicust system to make way for this. And yes, this refactored touched the Mementos in a big way. Don’t worry, you will get to play with this for Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O. in 5.1, unlike some of the other content teased on X or Facebook. I’ve been saying it before, but it bears repeating, we did a lot of changes and refactors, and touched nearly every system. But at the end of it all is a game that much better.

I suppose I’ll have to tell you what changes are coming to Quick Me.M.E.N.T.O., eh? Next update, how about that. See you soon.

We post more minor updates on X (formerly known as Twitter) and Facebook, so check those links out if you haven’t!
